These 2 paintings were done for the article "Under My Spell", an article on traditional love potions for the February '09 issue of New Mexico Magazine. They were designed to run above the text in a double page spread.

Love Potion (left)
An "abuela" (grandmother) drops herbs, bones and powders into a steaming kettle to make a love potion.
A love-struck young girl breathes in the steam from the kettle while thinking of the boy she loves.
