No-man’s Land, Afghanistan/Pakistan Border -  2003 - 14”x18” acrylic gouache on panel

I saw a bit of news footage, taken from a helicopter, evidently, because the people looked like panicked
ants. Many people tried to flee to Pakistan when they heard the Americans were coming. They rushed to the Pakistan
border fence, and were driven away. They then rushed back to the Afghan side, only to be refused.  All they could do
then was sit in the middle and await their fate. I never found out what happened to them. The border motifs are
from my Afghani war rug.
