1995-2001

Sea kayaking and a product design business had me living for months at a time on the Sea of Cortés, in Sonora, Mexico.  I have some remote Mexican connections, via Czech- German ancestors who settled in Mexico, and helped found the Mexican beer industry.  While soaking up the atmosphere (and Mexican beer), I began sketching to record experiences and sights, and making paintings when I got home.

1984-1992

Although I was showing and selling, I took a break from painting
and embarked on a short but interesting career in alternative music ranging from neo- punk to abstract electronic environments. In the early 90's I began producing paintings on paper with stencils and canned spray paint.  That was toxic, so I switched to acrylic gouache.
